Website disclaimer

The information provided on the In your Body website is intended for general information and educational purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any medical or psychological condition, or to replace advice, diagnosis or treatment from a suitably qualified healthcare professional.

Yoga and movement

Yoga and movement practices can support physical and emotional wellbeing, but they are not suitable for everyone in every circumstance. You are responsible for listening to your body, working within your own limits and choosing whether an exercise or practice feels appropriate for you.

Please let me know about any relevant injuries, health conditions, pregnancy, recent surgery or other circumstances that may affect your participation before taking part in a session. If you are unsure whether yoga or movement is appropriate for you, please seek advice from your GP or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

You should stop any practice that causes pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, unusual symptoms or significant discomfort and seek appropriate medical advice where necessary.

Massage and bodywork

Massage and myofascial work are intended to support relaxation, movement, body awareness and general wellbeing. They are not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment.

Massage may not be appropriate in certain circumstances. You may be asked about your health, medications, injuries and relevant medical history before treatment so that the session can be adapted appropriately. Where necessary, I may recommend that you seek medical advice or obtain consent from your healthcare professional before treatment.

You remain responsible for providing accurate and relevant information about your health and for telling me if anything changes or if a treatment becomes uncomfortable.

Somatic and trauma-informed practices

Somatic practices can support greater awareness of bodily sensations, movement, breath and responses to stress. They are not a form of psychotherapy or mental health treatment unless explicitly stated otherwise.

These practices may sometimes bring up strong physical or emotional responses. You are always encouraged to work at your own pace, pause or stop a practice, and seek appropriate professional support if you need it.

Individual responsibility

Information and practices shared through this website are offered in good faith and based on my training, experience and ongoing learning. However, individual responses to yoga, massage and somatic practices vary, and no particular physical, emotional or therapeutic outcome can be guaranteed.

By participating in a session or treatment, you acknowledge that you are responsible for making informed choices about your participation and for communicating any concerns, limitations or changes in your circumstances.
